Using Remote Desktop ConnectionTable of Contents
Before connecting, enable the appropriate remote desktop server on the remote computer and obtain its address and login details. The server must be reachable from your computer, and its firewall must allow the required connection.
Choose → to open the connection page.
Select vnc, rdp, or spice in the protocol selector next to Connect to:.
Enter the server address in the form
[username@]host[:port], then press Enter or click the arrow button next to the address. The protocol is already selected, so do not prepend it to this field.Review the host settings if prompted, and enter the credentials required by the server. Each connection opens in a tab.
- VNC
Enter
meganfor the default port 5900. For display 1 on port 5901, entermegan:1ormegan:5901. Port numbers below 100 are interpreted as VNC display numbers and added to 5900.
- RDP
Enter
meganfor the default port 3389, ormegan:3390for a different port. You can include a user name, for examplealice@megan.- SPICE
Enter the host and port of the virtual machine's SPICE server, for example
vmhost:5902. The default port is 5900.
The connection page also lists bookmarks, connection history, and VNC services advertised on the local network through Zeroconf. Typing in the address field filters this list. You can select a listed connection and use from its context menu. The Remote Desktops panel provides another way to find saved and discovered connections.
