Kubrick was inspired by Professor Ernő Rubik's famous Rubik's Cube ™ puzzle.
The programming is original work in C++ but owes several good ideas to the Rubik XScreensaver, a C program by Marcelo Vianna, and GNUbik, a C program by John M. Darrington.
